About

At Providence House, we believe every child deserves to be safe and every family deserves support during difficult times. Since 1981, we have helped children and families throughout Greater Cleveland overcome crises while working to prevent child abuse, neglect, and unnecessary foster care placements.

Through our Crisis Nurseries, we provide free, voluntary, around-the-clock emergency shelter and nurturing care for children from newborn through age 12 for up to 90 days, without requiring parents or guardians to give up custody. We support families experiencing homelessness, unsafe housing, domestic violence, medical emergencies, mental health challenges, substance use treatment, and other serious hardships.

Our licensed social workers work alongside parents and guardians to develop family preservation plans, access community resources, strengthen parenting skills, and create safer, more stable home environments. We also provide trauma-informed care, parent education, family visitation, and ongoing support after children return home.

With campuses on Cleveland's east and west sides, we are committed to keeping kids safe, keeping families together, and helping our neighbors build stronger futures.
