About

The Legal Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that individuals and families throughout New York's Greater Capital Region have access to justice, legal advocacy, and representation, regardless of their financial circumstances. Since 1995, we have worked to protect the rights, safety, and stability of people who might otherwise be unable to afford an attorney.

We provide free legal consultations, education, advocacy, and representation to eligible individuals facing civil legal challenges. Our services include assistance for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, immigrants, homeowners facing foreclosure, veterans, older adults, crime victims, and individuals experiencing financial hardship. We also offer community legal clinics, estate planning assistance, and legal guidance for small business owners.

Serving 14 counties throughout the Greater Capital Region, our staff attorneys and volunteer legal professionals help people understand their rights, navigate complex legal situations, and pursue practical solutions. We believe access to legal assistance is essential to building safer families, stronger communities, and a more equitable justice system.
