About

Homeless & Travelers Aid Society (HATAS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing, reducing, and ending homelessness throughout Albany County and New York's Capital Region. Founded in 1927, we provide emergency shelter coordination, homelessness prevention, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, and connections to essential community services. Through our 24-hour Homeless Hotline, Code Blue Albany, Coordinated Entry, and specialized housing programs, we help individuals and families access immediate assistance while working toward long-term housing stability. We also support families through our Capital Region Furniture Bank and Feed & Read program, providing essential household furnishings, nutritious food, and educational resources. Our mission is to ensure that people facing housing insecurity have access to the support, dignity, and opportunities needed to rebuild their lives.
