About
At Ithaca Welcomes Refugees (IWR), we partner with refugees and immigrants as they rebuild their lives in Tompkins County, New York. Founded in 2015, our mission is to create a welcoming community where newcomers can find stability, connection, and opportunities to thrive. Through our Welcome Home program, we help families secure housing, obtain essential household supplies, and settle into their new surroundings. Our Response Projects provide personalized volunteer support with transportation, employment searches, language connections, school enrollment, and everyday challenges. We also operate Global Roots Play School, offering affordable early childhood care that helps parents pursue English classes and other important goals. Together with volunteers and community partners, we empower new neighbors to build independent, fulfilling lives.
